His Beatitude, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, SVIATOSLAV, during his weekly address to the Ukrainian Nation and to the world, on Sunday afternoon 16 August 2026, invited and encouraged all members of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and all people of goodwill to join him and many spiritual leaders of Ukraine in praying for a true and lasting peace in Ukraine.

The World Day of Prayer for Peace in Ukraine will take place on Ukraine’s actual 35th celebration of Independence* – Monday, 24 August 2026.

The request was that every parish of each eparchy and exarchate throughout the world wherever Ukrainians are found, would offer a Eucharistic Divine Liturgy and pray a ‘Moleben (prayer service) for Ukraine’.

All our parishes around the Eparchy of New Westminster are asked to schedule a Divine Liturgy in the course of the day and a Moleben’ (or another Marian prayer, e.g. Akathist or Rosary) at that time or at some point in the day. Both of these services should be announced to the people, who are encouraged to come.

The “Prayer for Peace in Ukraine” Divine Liturgy at Holy Eucharist Cathedral (501-4th Avenue, New Westminster, BC), led by our Bishop MICHAEL Kwiatkowski, will take place on Monday, August 24, at noon (12:00 PM) and followed by a Moleben’.

ALL ARE WELCOME!
