Bishop Michael wanted three basic images and themes to be included in his coat of arms: the Our Lord through the Holy Eucharist, by which we profoundly become one with Christ and find the source and summit of our Faith (Christ our Pascha, 390); the Mother of God, especially his favourite icon of the Mother of God of Vysh’horod – ever interceding for God’s People; and the Archangel Michael, his life-long patron and the one who defends the glory of God. The motto chosen is the concluding phrase of Joshua 24:15, “We Will Serve the Lord”
These three images were developed by the President of the Ukrainian Heraldry Society of Ukraine, Dr. Andriy Hrechylo, to be represented by appropriate symbols. The three 8-pointed stars on a field of blue as would be found on icons of the Mother of God – representing her purity and ever-virginity. The sword and scales of the Archangel Michael who defeats evil and has a role in the judgement of souls. The Holy Eucharist is represented almost identically to the symbol of “Lamb” host and Chalice as depicted on the coat of arms of the Eparchy of New Westminster.
The surrounding mitre, mantle, staff and processional cross signify the episcopal office.
Єпископський Герб Владики Михаїла Квятковського
Владика Михаїл хотів, щоб на його гербі були три основні образи і теми: Господь наш через Пресвяту Євхаристію, через яку ми глибоко з’єднуємося з Христом і знаходимо джерело і вершину нашої віри (Христос – наша Пасха, 390); Божа Матір, особливо його улюблена ікона Вишгородської Богородиці – неустанна заступниця Божого народу; і Архистратиг Михаїл, його покровитель і той, хто захищає славу Божу. Обраним девізом є заключна фраза Ісуса Навина 24:15 “[А я та дім мій] Служитимемо Господеві”
Ці три зображення розроблені президентом Українського Геральдичного Товариства д-ром Андрієм Гречилом для представлення відповідними символами. Три 8-кутні зірочки на блакитному полі, як і на іконах Божої Матері, символізують її чистоту і непорочності. Меч і ваги Архангела Михаїла, який перемагає зло і бере участь у суді над душами. Пресвята Євхаристія представлена майже ідентично символу “Агнця” та Чаші, як зображено на гербі Єпархії Нью-Вестмінстера.
Навколишні символи митри, мантії, жезла та процесійного хреста означають єпископський стан.
