Ordination to the Sub-Diaconate and Diaconate

To the Clergy, Religious and Lay-Faithful of the Eparchy of New Westminster

3 July 2015

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Dear Friends,

I have the great pleasure to announce the following wonderful news for our Eparchy!
Stepan Dovhoshyia has been visiting our Eparchy for the last few weeks. Together we have been discerning his vocation to the priesthood in our Eparchy. Stepan has completed all of his seminary formation in Ukraine, he is married to Julia and they have a baby boy named Luke.

I will be ordaining Stepan a sub-deacon at our Church of the Holy Dormition of the Mother of God located at: 8700 Railway Ave., Richmond, BC. The ordination will take place during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on the feast day of Saint Volodymyr the Great on Wednesday, 15 July at 7:00 PM. There will be a small reception to follow. Please be so kind as to phone: 1-604-447-1731 by Sunday, 12 July to let the parishioners know if you are attending and how many so that they can be prepared to host you at the reception following the Divine Liturgy. Ordination to the sub-diaconate is the first step toward priestly ordination.

Then on Sunday, 19 July at 5:00 PM I will be ordaining Stepan a deacon at Holy Eucharist Cathedral Parish located at: 501-4th Ave., New Westminster, BC. There will be a dinner following the Divine Liturgy and ordination in our parish hall. Please be so kind as to phone: 1-604-526-1261 by Wednesday, 15 July to indicate your attendance so that we can be prepared to host you.

I will be ordaining Stepan to the priesthood in his home parish in Ternopil, Ukraine on 28 August this year. We hope to welcome the newly ordained Fr. Stepan and his wife and son to our Eparchy in October of this year and at that time I will make an announcement where his pastoral appointment will be.

It is not too often that the faithful of our Eparchy have an opportunity to participate in sub-diaconal and diaconal ordinations so I would encourage everyone to make an effort to attend at least one of this joyful events.

With assurance of my prayerful best wishes,
+Ken
Bishop of New Westminster
